I would like to back- up my Quicken files using the Quicken program's backup feature. How can I format a new CD-RW that Quicken will read?

You only format the CD when you are going to be using the CD to add files like a regular hard drive, so to speak. On Roxio its called Drag to Disc, on Nero, its called In CD. If you have Roxio, you should have an icon in your system tray (that you can right click and Choose Format Disc. Once the CD is format, then you can just keep copying one or more files at a time until it eventually gets full. At that point, you will close the CD so it can be read on any computer's CD player.

If you look at the CD drive under My computer, it should say something like 720Mb free. If it says 0 bytes, then its not formatted yet, or you have a previously closed CD in the drive. If it says Drive not Ready when you click it, then there is no cd in it, or the CD is corrupted and it doesn't recognize it.

Use Nero's "IN CD" it will prepare a disk so it will act the same as your hard drive or floppy
