Well it depends on what iPod you get. Some are cheap, but the bigger and better ones are not. And I think you seem to be exaggerating a bit, not every other question is about iPods or iTunes, but a lot are. It's because a lot of people these days have them, not just those rich. And people ask about them to learn more about them then they already have or have not. Make sense?

2/ People don't seem to read the (rather simple) directions

3/ people don't seem to be aware of the additional information on the apple website: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod101/

Because 5 million kids got one for Christmas.
There not too pricey...$200
My daughter has a off brand model. Cost $80ish. Just as good. Downloads are free.

iPods are everywhere, you can get them for $100. But really, a Zune is nice,a nd next year all of the questions will be about the Zune. PREPARE FOR THE ZUNE!
