I am the same height and have been told that I should weigh between 160 and 170 by my doctor. I guess you should probably try gaining weight but don't overindulge yourself to do it. Just try to eat more but eat healthy as well. Excercise is always a good thing like weights because muscle weighs more than fat and it will build your frame too. good luck.

I just typed this lifetime rule on weight.

Women= 100 pounds for 5 feet of height.

5 pounds of weight for every inch over five feet.

That would make a healthy weight for you 145 lbs. If 130 would be more comfortable OK. But you are really a scarecrow.
a 17 to 20 lb. weight gain would be excellent.

Just eat a bit more than you do and eat healthy. Eating 5 or 6 small meals a day may help you take in more calories.

At 5'9" if you have a small frame, your minimum weight should be 129.

The best way to gain weight is to exercise and eat healthy (three meals a day, two snacks; all healthy food). I bet you're thinking 'Wait a minute! That's what people do to -lose- weight.' Yes, but exercising will help you gain muscles, and eating healthy will put weight on your body without all the unhealthy fat.

Ask a doctor about the proper diet and exercise routines for your personal needs.

Lucky! Lucky! Lucky! My mom was the same way, 5'9 and weighed about 105 pounds - she hated it too because of all the comments, etc.. If you want to gain weight:
1. Have your thyroid checked and a good physical first.
2. Consult a nutritionist - to do it healthy
3. Have a glass a wine nightly.
4. Quit smoking (if you are)

Good Luck!

i think you should at least gain 15 more pounds. i think that guys like a little more weight, you know, to hold on to. you are too skinny for you heights maybe 15 more pounds and you'll be just fine. you should eat more healthy foods, but at the same time excerzie, that way you gain muscle pounds, and be healthy at it. if you want more fat, then occasionally eat some not-so-healthy foods.
happy new year!

You are definitely very thin!
The best way is to try to increase your intake gradually and with healthy, wholesome foods. Adding strength training should also help, and may even give you more appetite. Strength training is good for everyone, it helps those who need to gain weight as well as those who need to lose it.
Your best bet, though, is to consult with your doctor, who may refer you to a nutritionist.
You might have a very small frame, but your weight still seems too low. Good luck!

Yes you do need to get up to minimum of 130 and 140 is not too much. even 150 would lock good if you are big boned.
I would say eat wheat bread, potatoes, macaroni, spaghetti, eggs, whole milk, (lean meats, chicken , sausage in moderation) fish, cream of wheat, rice, grits, oatmeal.

These are foods which will put lean weight on you for the most part except the potatoes, rice, spaghetti, macaroni, ect.
Eat green beans, and English peas, and few sweets.

For sweets eat fruit. It'll give you the sugar you need wand not go to excess on weight.
