I bought a black one, and love it. I think it's worth the money, but I still wish it were cheaper. It only come in a 30 GB version. There's black, white and brown. Yes, the prices are similiar to iTunes, except they are converted into points, but still cost the same. You can't get podcasts yet, they do not sell movies, or music videos on Zune Marketplace yet. They will update the Zune Marketplace sometime soon to do that. I think it's better than the ipod, it does have some unique features, and they are enough to help it win over the ipod.

I am listening to my Zune right now, an I must say it is great. It is most definately worth the money! It is either a 30 GB or a 50 GB. The colors are BROWN!, black or white.
You really don't have to buy songs, you can rip your CDs onto the Zune, and synchornize any downloaded songs you have on the computers by putting them into the Zune file, and then getting onto the zune icon on your desktop to sync the songs. But when you get your Zune it will take all of the songs from your computer. Also you can get videos, and pictures on the Zune. But they also get on atoumatically. Also when you get a Zune you get a free two week Marketplace serial code, but then you will lose the songs unless if you pay for them. I suggest looking the songs up on LimeWire then downloading them and putting themon to the Zune.
Is it better than an iPod, I would say so.

I've had my Zune for 3 days. Now has 3500 songs and 15 Full Movies on it. No problems other than just trying to figure out how stuff works. Plays any mp3 and wmv movie set at 320x240 and looks likes watching a dvd on a lcd screen, very nice. New hacks on the way I hear about being able to upgrade and use as a mass storage if need be. Also Panosonic has just got the 100 gig HDD that will be able to pop in the zune for mass upgrades.
Overall, I give it a 8.5 out of 10. Only reason I didnt give it a 10 was it took me hours to find the "right" software to do my movie conversions

The Zune is a joke, stay away from it.
It's WiFi transfer "feature" is limited to 3 plays or 3 days, whichever comes first and its DRM violates the Creative Commons license. The WiFi "feature" can't be used for anything else, such as wireless syncing.
It can't be used as a hard drive mass storage device, as can be done with every other player out there.
It has a bigger screen than does an iPod, however, it has the same resolution, making it look worse.
You have to buy prepaid "points" in order to buy songs from the Zune store. The Zune store does not yet have video.
It doesn't play Microsoft's own PlaysForSure files, so music purchased from Yahoo Music or any other music store won't work. The Zune Player (which you must use) only plays its own proprietary format and mp3's. Microsoft is using misleading advertising regarding iTunes conversion. They make it sound like the Zune Player will convert existing iTunes to its own format automatically...it won't. You have to burn your iTunes music to a CD, then rip that music back to your hard drive again in either Zune's format, WMA format or in the mp3 format. If you do that, however, the sound quality of your music will degrade because both Zune's format, WMA and mp3's are what's called “lossy compression”. In this case you have an already compressed file being compressed again, resulting in terrible sound quality.
The Zune is really just a Toshiba Gigabeat (Toshiba makes it for Microsoft) with WiFi, but it costs more than a Gigabeat and has limitations that the Gigabeat doesn't have.
It's extremely buggy and people have had nothing but problems installing its software.
It doesn't work with Firefox or Windows Media Player. You must use the much inferior Zune Player.
It only comes in three colors: White, Black and ummmm....errr.....Brown?
Lastly, Microsoft caved in to the music industry demands for a piece of every Zune sold because the music industry views mp3 players as theft devices, thus empowering the RIAA. (Recording Industry Artists Association)
But hey, don't take my word for it...see below:

Just say no to the Zune, either wait for Apple to update the video iPod or take a look at the Archos 604 or Creative's Zen Vision (either “M” or “W”) line instead.
