You can take a class online that will help you prepare for the test, or you can study the manual on your own, or you can try to find some websites to help you study. Simply Google "California driving test laws" or look for related links at About.com

Good luck!

The signs test is really easy, don't worry about it. Review the signs and practice saying them without looking at the names. When I took the test they just gave me a page with like 50 signs and I had to find about 15-20 of them from a list, like yield, merge ect.

The written part of the test is mostly common sense and pretty easy, but since you need like 80% to pass it's easy to fail if you don't study. I suggest glancing over the manual and looking for a practice test online. Don't forget about some of the little nit picky facts; they might ask you have far you need to be behind an ambulence or something dumb like that. Know stuff about insurance, alcohol limits, highbeams, buses/trains/ambulences. Other than that most of it is pretty easy to figure out, and for some of the questions the answer is really obvious.

It's all multiple choice, btw.

Good luck!

Its really easy if you take a class (not online) because the book they give you has everything you need. Usually, there is one or two pages in the book exclusively devoted to the signals. Colors follow function (orange is for construction and all that stuff).

My age old trick. Read for 5min nap for 30 (repeat). NOT KIDDING!!! The reason is that while you sleep your brain will work out the problems while you are not thinking about it (sleeping just does'nt put anymore thoughts in your brain). Heck I'm in the 99th+ percentile with a perfect 200 for my IQ.
