If your tank is getting cloudy, and doing frequent water changes does not help, then what you most likely have is an algae bloom. That could be a good thing for the fish fry.

Depending on what kind of fish fry you have (what size they are) will determine how to proceed in regards to your ghost shrimp question. Ghost Shrimp will definately eat fish fry if they get the opportunity as would any other scavenger.

Another reason your tank might be getting so dirty and cloudy might have to do with overfeeding. If you have filtration in your tank, then you can get away with some over feeding. But if you have stopped your filtration to keep your fry from being sucked into it, then you will have to be very careful with how much you feed them.

If your tank is well established and healthy, it has plenty of live semi-microscopic critters in it for the fry, so you don't have to feed alot.

If your fry are larger and eating flake foods, watch as they eat. If there is still food left after 10 minutes, you are overfeeding.

I breed angelfish and occasionally my albino corys will spawn. Since I am not a full time breeder and not allowed by my state to sell fish, I go to my fave individually owned petshop and trade my youngsters for fish supplies.

It can be fun to breed fish and care for fish fry once you get the hang of it, and also if you have plenty of tanks!

Yes. Well, actually....you don't say what kind of fry you have. I'm thinking of Guppies, which are what I have, and they would be munched in seconds. Do you have a filter in your tank?? If not, it's a good idea to fit one, as it gets rid of a lot of the junk. When the fish get a bit older they will eat the algae (green stuff) themselves but as fry they're too young for it.
Try this; get two heavy magnets, and get someone to drill a hole in the end of one for you (or do it yourself!). Tie string through the hole. Cover both magnets in felt, or some other soft material. lower the one with the string into the tank, and bring it towards the glass. Bring the other magnet towards it until they click (?) together. You can then wipe the glass with these as they will stay attracted to each other. Tra daa! A non-messy way to clean out the tank.
Another alternative is to get some small snails for the tank (water snails). DO NOT buy Apple Snails, as they grow to an enormous size and take up a lot of your tank. Any other type is fine. Some pet shops sell them individually, but most don't. The way I got mine was.....attached to a plant. The eggs were on the plant and I didn't realise until I got home and they hatched. They are great for cleaning out the tank, but breed at an amazing rate. However, if they start to take over, you simply take your finger and crush them against the side of the tank. The fish will feed on the debris. I know this sounds cruel, but you can't get rid of them any other way, as most of them are foreign, and although not poisonous to fish, are to humans, if you flush them down the loo etc.
Are you feeding your fish too much?? You might be doing so and not realising it. Watch how much the fish eat, and, if there is any left over, scoop it out with a small net or a piece of kitchen roll. Leftover food will make the tank dirty really fast. Anyway, hope this helped!

P.S - If you do buy snails, quarrantine them in a seperate tank for a week, feeding them on fish food, if anything strange happens to them, if a lot die, turn purple etc, DO NOT put them with your fish.
