is it just that bad habits are hard to break?

I was married to my ex-wife for 11 years and we always called eachother honey. For some strange reason 3 years later we still do. I don't know why. Maybe it's just habit or everything else sounds wierd. We both think about it right after we say it and kinda laugh.

Thats funny you should ask that. A few years ago I would only call my wife honey every few days or so. After a while, she started asking why I don't have any pet names for her. I'm almost 40 and can't see myself saying "poogie woogie bear" or something silly like that. So I then resorted back to calling her honey on a regular basis. Now 7 years later, I say honey all the the time and only say her name every blue moon (usually when I'm yelling up the stairs to call her to the phone, lol).
So, I'd say yes it's mostly habit if it's said on a regular basis. But is there a possibility that you steered him that direction (ie at one point, maybe did you ask why you don't call me honey very often)?

I didn't know it was a bad habit to call someone honey ! I have been calling my husband honey for 3 years. And he has been calling me baby for 3 years.

Sounds better than being called bee SH*T. :)
Besides that, think about it a bit, if he didnt love you , he probably would'nt call you honey at all. This is a good thing. It's the small things like this that shows you his sensitive side.

Nothing is really bad with honey. But maybe you might not like it because your not a girly girl. If you do not like it tell him in a kind way

i was with a guy for 4 years an he called me baby the whole time it was like i didnt have a name.. But i got use to it, just how some ppl are

Well, it's part of the stages of a relationship.
Stage One is "pass me the honey, Honey."
Stage Two is "pass me the sugar, Sugar."
Stage Three is "pass me the bacon, Pig!"

either he's being a jerk or he's just used to calling you that and can't break the habit. it depends on the tone he uses.
