It is a good thing you think so. Anyone should be patriotic towards their country. But there are freedoms you don't allow--marriage of gays--they are people, too. And your education system sucks--you only learn about America. Other countries don't count. You're not interested in broadening your horizons. Just repeating, blah, blah, blah, about how great you are. Not all countries share your view. And you're not even tolerant of that. To you, everyone must see how great you are. I like Americans, but American policy sucks. So, by the way, does your president.

You should travel a little more, cordova.
You'll find America is the most hated country on earth.
Your highly intelligent President, has plunged your country 29trillion dollars into debt, devalued your currency, sent 3000 American troops to their deaths in Iraq, and turned America into a pariah state.
From where I'm standing, it's only a matter of time before the World brings sanctions against the USA. (banning all trade, banning USA passport-holders from travelling to other countries, dismantling and sending unwanted missiles back to the US, etc, etc.).
What I find amazing, is the citizenry stand around and do nothing.

America was great long before we allowed unfettered immigration from the Turd World. Our decline is currently underway and will continue until we are yet another skeleton of what was, or should i say, an overpopulated collection of terrorists and braindead hordes of diseased dangerous people who neither contributed to our greatness, nor aspire to add to it.
It's a myth that immigration benefits society, and our steady decline is proof of that.
The only bright side is that when we are a member of the Turd World, maybe the immigration will stop and people will start taking over Iceland or Greenland, or even antarctica. Im sure the penguins and Arctic Terns would like the company.

Well, Does it sound like some of the above responses represent average US of A'ns real (lack of) knowledge, (no)courtesy and worldly experience? It is easy to guess who is a turd and who's not. Just the willingness to live in a country does not make it good - similar to working for a company does not make the CEO and the company good - it could be just the paycheck and necessity people choose to bear brutality and inhumanity of the CEO. The proud / pride is the result of inferiority complex that pushes oneself to act/tout like superior even though when every finger points at them. No country is good or bad - many people like and love to live in harmony except some cracked-up ill-perverts who think of others as low/mean and sometimes these cracks become the CEOs which poses danger to the human values, race and ultimately to the entire humanity. In my opinion, an one who think low of others is the meanest animal in the universe and (s)he is the worst representation of any country, creed or race

America, for all its faults and errors, is still the best place to live because we have two things no other country on Earth has:

We have the First Amendment.

We have the Second Amendment.

By these two guarantees are all of our other freedoms protected. Don't forget it.

overall, it's the greatest country around.

but what i do dislike is the fact that many americans choose to be extremely socially ignorant.

I personally know at least a hundred people who would become americans if they could, but they can't...so I disagree with your premise.

The question is irrelevant. Greatness meaning what? The borders are artificial, this is Earth.

The greatest mountains are not in America. The greatest forests are not in America.
The most beautiful coasts are not in America.
The tallest building is not in America.
The highest per capita income is not in America.
The greatest longevity is not in America.
The highest per capita charitable contribution is not in America.
I'm American.
