most real estate classes run for about 2 1/2 months and are available at all times throughout the year.
some companies, like coldwell banker brown, have classes in their offices for potential new agents/associates (we charge $325 i think, now)
in southern illinois, for instance, the greater gateway association of realtors is the place to go for information.
after you've taken the class you will be eligible for the state and federal exam ($45). hope it goes well for you.

Every state has a Real Estate Licensing Board.Contact them and they will give you all the requirements on how to get a real estate license.
