My friend,

Nothing is free. You get what you pay for.

So many people get taken by the FREE this and that. Trust me, nothing is free on the internet. They will get you some way.

I use to host a "free" web site designer. Sure, it was "free" to you only we ONLY had a 256 download speed. Share that with about 500 other users, guess how much bandwidth your site got? Almost nothing. Then, combined with that, for our "Paying" customers, we would put tags on the non-paying customers sites, directing them to another location. Really, what you did was advertise your site for someone else.

Let's say I have two or 3 baking businesses on my host computer. They are all free with a bunch of caveats. One of the caveats is that we own all of your traffic counts AND we can tag your web site with our content. After all, it is free, right?

Now, if one of those bakers pays for hosting, we might tag one of the free sites with a pop-up to the person that pays or just put a 1 out of 30 redirect to another site.

Legal? Sure is. After all, what did you pay for? NOTHING.

Does it make it right. Not really. But NOTHING is for free.

Pay $5-$10 per month and get something legally binding.

Tom

(Copy and pasted from one of my other ansers)

Yes, a very good one infact. Use Sitesled.com. No adds or anything. There are some problems, and I will tell you what they are now.

1. Your username is the name of your website. Watch it!
2. Sometimes (usuly once a month) the server will go down for afew hours.
3. The built in website builder doesint work well, so instead create the site on your desktop and upload them yourself.

You are alowed 250MB on there server. Go look for yourself:

well actually free webhosting nearly always comes at a price! whether you go for GeoCities, Angelfire, FreeServers or Brinkster, you'll either have on-page ads, pop-ups, long addresses, bandwidth restrictions, file type restrictions and storage space restrictions!

i used Angelfire, FreeServers and Brinkster and have active accounts on GeoCities and 1ASPHost..

if u want to upload plain HTML pages with maybe some flash and images then you can use ANY web service on the planet (everyone offers that)

http://geocities.yahoo.com
GeoCities is good.. the only drawback is the on-page advertisement.. it offers i guess 25 MB of space and good service.. you can even get rid of the ad-pane by using frame pages!
the downside is that you can NOT upload mp3s, movies, databases or pages using dynamic scripting (ASP, MSP, JSP, PHP, PERL, CGI, etc)
WEB ADDRESS:: http://geocities.com/YourYahooID

http://1asphost.com
1ASPHost is probably the ONLY webhost offering free ASP hosting to all. it does NOT support DSN addresses though and needs a direct connection scripting. no bandwidth limit and 100 MB space! you can upload all sorts of files too.
WEB ADDRESS:: http://x.1asphost.com/UserName

http://freeservers.com
FreeServers offers a petty 15MB of space, bandwidth limitations, file-type limitation, supports HTML, flash and images ONLY and offers a super-crappy service.. i've abandoned my account on their site for good!
WEB ADDRESS:: http://UserName.SomeSubDomain.com

http://angelfire.com
Angelfire was my first choice back in 1997 when i launched my very first site! the service was great, no ads and no bandwidth limitation.. but then things changed and now they put on-page banners, bandwidth and file-type limitations but still MUCH better than FreeServers.

http://100Megs.com
100Megs offers 100 Mb of space, file-type limitation and ads

http://cjb.net
CJB.net offers domain redirection and webhosting. Ads, Bandwidth and file-type limitations
WEB ADDRESS:: http://UserName.cjb.net

http://brinkster.com
Brinkster's Education Plan is free for learners and provides free ASP and database support. Has bandwidth limitations though and account expires over a period of 60 days of control panel inactivity.
WEB ADDRESS:: http://www00.brinkster.com/UserName

Usually your internet company will supply you with free webspace. You may want to contact them to see how much room they offer
