I would think "quit smoking" would be #1 with "lose weight" close behind.

I would probably say the most popular resolution in the world is to lose weight and I'm say quit smoking is a popular second.

Making resolution is part of our effort to make ourselves free from the evil that we accumulate on ourselves. On important occasions, like New Year Eve, we make resolutions. It is generally to give up some habits which we do by the force of habit, with a sense of guilt. Making a resolution is not in itself going to bring in any change in ourselves. We must do that rather in a systematic way. Let a resolve be for a positive action. For example, if you want to give up more weight, you have to resolve to go to a gym regularly at a fixed time. If you fail to do that there must be a condition that you add some more punishing schedule the following day. Once, going to gym and exercises become a practice and a habit, there will be a result for all to see. Sustaining in the effort to make the resolution to succeed is more important that the mere act of taking a resolution.
