i love my boyfriend very much and he just gave me a promise ring but what does it really mean?

A promise ring simply means he promises his love to you. That's all. If your relationship gets serious enough it's another way of him saying "i'm going to propose when the timing is right" Well..that's what the RING means I don't know what your boyfriends intentions are. My belief is that he loves you a lot and the only way for him to SHOW you he does is to give you a ring to promise his love to you.

I always thought that a promise ring meant he promises to be true to you forever. Not quite the same as a proposal, but essentially saying he wants to be with you for the rest of your lives. By accepting, you generally are agreeing that you feel the same way. However, it is not a proposal, it is just a professing of love in all reality.

It could mean a variety of things...Promise to be yours....Promise to love you with all I have....etc. etc. The promise is made when the ring is given...My promise to my girl is I will always do my best to be the best for her...and will return safely from deployment to her arms...Promises that you know mean the world to the both of you...Regardless of being impossible or not.

It means, "This is the ring that I will use to show other guys that they can't have you." I think of promise rings as finger shackles. But that's just my opinion.

it means nothing, it just keep you quiet, i bought my ex a promise ring just to keep her quiet she taught we might get married because she had a promise ring, we were together 10 years and i married someone else
