I actually experienced erections, arousal, and self-stimulation from a very young age but was not officially "equipped" until around 12-and-a-half. But it was amazing to me that I understood excitement that way, being that young. It did concern me for a very long time about what was "normal," but it appears that each person enters into it at different times.

Some children do masturbate, some because they imatate what they have seen before and others because for who-knows-why! But they don't have the sexual feelings or tentions as pre-teens, teens, and adults have.

I work at a daycare & seen children as young as 4 masturbate in order to nap. so i guess they do but are not aware of the sexual meaning that it means to us. To us it is a lot more intense and we know what we are doing they don't.
