you need to mix it 50/50 with water and add to the line on the reservoir

You don't mention what vehicle you have, or why you are needed to add coolant, but you can't go wrong with a 50/50 mix and adding only to what folks still call the overflow resevoir.

Your coolant system is only going to take what it needs from the resevoir. Just add to the cold fill line each morning until you don't need to add any more.

Hope this helps.

Dex-Coolant is an orange-colored anti-freeze which is specific to most GM cars such as Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Pontiac vehicles. The coolant is called Prestone Extended Life 5/150 (5 years/150,000 miles). The proper mixture is 50/50 (Half gallon antifreeze, half gallon water) one gallon container yields 2 gallons of antifreeze. Always fill overflow tank when adding to a closed system. (radiator cap is not on radiator) Do not fill overflow tank above FULL mark! If you are concerned about overfilling, syphon out overflow tank with syphon to allow excess fluid to drain out into this tank. Do not allow overflow tank to, well, overflow! syphon out excess fluid back into container if level is above FULL mark. If you have an open system, (radiator cap is on radiator) make sure engine is cool to the touch. If not hot, remove the silver radiator cap, fill radiator to just below the bypass hole near top inside radiator (use pinky to find hole). With radiator cap still off, start engine and check to see if level has dropped. If level has dropped, add more fluid as needed and watch level. Continue to add fluid until level no longer drops. Replace cap. Turn engine off and add fluid to just below FULL or second mark (from bottom) on overflow tank. Congratulations! You're now able to properly diagnose fluid loss and refill properly!

so far I know.......
all the coolant are made out of a fluid named Glycol.
that is also one of the mayor component of automatic transmission fluid called Dex-Ron II
You MUST buy a coolant that come already mixed.
the reason for that is...
if You buy " mix it Yourself" formula You will end up mixing it with tap water which contain chlorine acid and the chlorine neutralize and destroy the glycol

You can buy a prestone coolant that will be compatible with all coolants. You can buy it either premixed or full strength which you mix 50/50 with water

the other answers are a guide line but you do not tell us where you live -----in Alaska you would need to use only anti-freeze.. or is it very cold where you are at and in that case you need 75% anti-F and 25% water...most cars hold about 2 to 3 gallons of coolant...
