Ladies, we need to cut one another some slack. Just because you personally do not agree with ear piercing doesn't mean that a person who does it is a bad mother. As mom's in general, we need to be more supportive and limit the amount of judgement that we cast.
Sorry, I had to get my 2 cents out. Claires, along with many other stores will encourage you to wait until your child has received at least their first round of shots. As your daughter's parent, it is up to YOU to decide what you feel is best for her, and if that includes pierced ears ... oh well. As an alternative to piercing, you can also use the stick on earrings which Claires sells. It's under the Body Bling label,

It depends on your state and if there are laws regulating the age. Some places will do them as early as 6 weeks others make you wait till they are 1. I would call some places and see what they tell you. From personal experience I would wait till the baby is at least 1. At 2 months your child could create an allergy to metal and not be able to wear earrings. What ever you decide demand on them doing both ears at once. Less pain faster for her and you can be on your way home sooner.

I didn't get my daughter's ears pierced until she was old enough to tell me she wanted it done. It's torture getting a baby's ears pierced. I've seen people do it and it's pitiful to see a happy baby have that done. I would wait, but that's me.

My parents had mine done at 4 months at the doctors office. Not sure if docs do this anymore. For those who critize please understand that there are cultures different from your own where this is the norm. I was pretty surprised to find girls in high school who had to beg their mom's to allow them to pierve there ears when I had mine since a baby and didn't think it was a big deal. I was only allowed to wear studs or very tiny hoops. In high school was when I was allowed to wear larger earrings on occasion.

My parents got my ears pierced when I was around 8 months. It's best to do it then (when she is young, and not involved in many activities), so she wouldn't have to go through the proper procedures to insure that her piercing is certain.

When she says Mom I want my ears pierced. I know a lot of people do infants, I don't know how early. I just thought it was really exciting for my daughter and I to go and have it done when she asked for it. It was a really big deal for her.

I was 6 months I believe when my mother had mine done, back when the pediatricians did them. I'm glad she had them done back then, because I was too young to remember them hurting. I've had piercings recently and it's a pain because when you're older you're constantly aware that they're there and they hurt. Plus you can clean them easier knowing that she isn't running around in the mud or anything since she's too young to do anything like that.

The preferred age is 6 months and up, but there are some who do it around 4 months.
