What should remain after removing the music? Just the words?

No, it's never possible to remove the music from a song. You HAVE TO HAVE a melody to have a song. You can remove the WORDS and create an instrumental (just the melody as in, for example, Mason Williams' "Classical Gas").

What do you mean by this question? Remove the words, or remove the actually music, like the instruments? And what would you do with your final copy of this new song, because I don't think you can edit other people's music?
