Depends on whether Jill alone does the job, or James alone does the job, or they both work on it and start at the same time.
If they start together, the house is painted in 2 hours 24 minutes.
Logic goes like this:
in 1 hour, Jill paints 1/6, while James paints 1/4. Thus in 1 hour 5/12 of the house has been completed. ( 1/6 + 1/4 = 5/12 )
The house is fully completed in 12/5 hours = 2 hours 24 mins.

They will talk to each other. They will find that they don't like painting houses. They will go off into the sunset and live happily ever after. The house will not get painted.
