Robert de Niro (Raging Bull), Dustin Hoffman (the Graduate and Midnight Cowboy), and I thought Jim Carrey was really good in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Matt Damon's not that bad and for comedy, it's gotta be Steve Carrell

Blimey thats a tricky one! Sir Anthony Hopkins, Johnny Depp, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, Morgan Freeman & Ray Winstone. I can't chose between them I'm afraid.

Morgan Freeman - only man I know who can play a lifer (Shawshank) chauffer (Driving Miss Daisy) The President (Deep Impact) God (Bruce Almighty) and a jaded NY cop (Seven) with complete and total believability.
Fantastic actor.

There is no single best in my opinion. However, I think the best that I can think of at present would have to be Kevin Spacey. He so rocked in the Usual Suspects.
Others who deserve the title include; Johnny Depp, Martin Sheen, Stanley Tucci and Anthony LaPaglia
