I would really like to talk to someone who is planning to go to, or better yet, currently attending or have attended Stanford. I would like to see what's and example profile of an admitted student or of one who plans on going to Stanford. Any websites that would be helpful?

I applied to Stanford in 2000 and did not get in. So many people apply there that they can be very exclusive. They told me that they only accepted about 2000 students, and over 3000 applicants had SAT scores over 1500 (out of 1600). Even though I supposedly had the highest SAT scores at my high school, it wasn't good enough. No one from my high school had gotten in for 20 years, and the year after I graduated, two people got in (thanks to athletics).

I think you should still go for it, but keep in mind that the ideal student is one of the three following:

1. Excellent grades and test scores, with extracurriculars that go above and beyond the usual clubs, such as starting a charity or volunteering in a foreign country.

2. Excellent grades and test scores, and superb athletic ability so that they can be on a Stanford team.

3. Decent grades, and a parent who went to Stanford.

Good luck! Go for it, but also go for the UCs which offer just as good of an education and are easier to get into.
