forget your ethernet! get a good wireless router! it's a breeze to install and you macbook already has the wireless inside!

don't forget to install some kind of security on it... wpa or MAC address is best!

even verizon will handle it!

I have a netgear, my partner has an airport express.... all easy!

You just plug an Ethernet cable from the Mac to the DSL modem and it usually works automatically. If you have the Ethernet port set to DHCP in System preferences, it should come right up.

using a router. The router will take care of the DSL settings. The mac plugs into the router using ethernet drivers like any other.

With a Mac, these things are usually automatic. Do you already have a Macbook and DSL, or are you just wondering if it would work should you get a Mac?

Attach it through Ethernet. Go to System Preferences, to the Network pane. Click "built-in Ethernet" and the "Configure..." button. Under the TCP/IP pane, chose Configure IPv4: "Using DHCP". You should be ready to go.
