Idling the engine is about the only way. Even if you add rear HVAC it is only going to work with the engine idling.

They do sell stand alone units for heat, and fans to help cool, but you will probably find those lacking.

We use those little ceramic heaters to warm ours. $40 at Wal-Mart. Just run an extension cord to it and close the door. Just remember to unplug it in the morning. And that won't be a problem if it's a diesel and you keep it plugged in anyway. We use it to keep our adhesives from freezing.

There are 12 volt roof mount evaporative coolers that are used on campers to cool, would need aux. battery to run it. RV supply store carries them. Here is an interesting site I found.
