Good question!!
My hubby's EX says that I am a homewrecker because I have kept them from getting back together....they were divorced almost 6 years before he and I started seeing each other.
No, you are not a homewrecker. She is a scorned woman.

If you want to get real technical, the home-wrecker is the person who broke their wedding vows, hence wrecking their home. As far as the "other woman" or "other man" goes, a home-wrecker would be someone who KNOWINGLY has sex with a married person with the intention of trying to break up the marriage (which if they are having sex while they know they are married w/kids (and the other spouse is in the dark), they are intending on breaking up the marriage because only an idiot thinks this is not harmful to a monogamous marriage). This is further emphasized if there is a child or children in the picture. If the marriage was clearly over before the divorce, and you have proof of that from both the husband and the wife, then I'd say you're in the clear and were not a home-wrecker.

You should have stayed away until the ink dried on the divorce papers. All the excuses in the world won't justify it. You may have been wrong morally but he allowed you come into his marriage. He broke the vows.
I hope he didn't have children with his ex. I can only imagine what kind of trauma they were put through.

WOW! Of course some people will always say another woman is a homewrecker regardless of what happens, but if you know it's not true then who cares. Think about her, she may have wrecked that other man's home as well. Don't get me wrong I'm not defending anybody in this one. I'm just saying the whole situation smells like you know what. A cheater is the lowest thing in my book.

This doesn't make you a homewrecker, but it does make you a bit immoral. I would put most of the blame on the guy though. If your gonna friggin' cheat on your wife, get a divorce. If you want to stay married, work it out and don't cheat. I always try to live life by this rule....would I be upset if someone was doing this to me? If so, I try not to put myself in those same situations.

it doesnt matter if you think the marriage was way over before you came into the picture, they were still married and if they were that unhappy then they would have gotten the divorce sooner, he stayed married to her because he wanted to be and nothing else...

marriage is not over until the papers are signed. it doesn't matter if they have no feelings for each other and still live in the same house. they are still married! the world will still look at you as a home-wrecker.

No not really, you would still be considered a homewrecker by some people even if you didn't know the man was married. I just wouldn't worry about it, and I would ignore anyone who called me one. His exwife will go to town on calling you a homewrecker, ignore her.

You may not have been the CAUSE of his divorce. But perhaps you were the last nail in the coffin......Giving him the courage to end the marriage.
