he will be 4 months old Jan 10th and is drinking more then 32 ounces a day. Should I be concerned? Every where you read says no more then 32 ounces in one day!

Does he have teeth yet? That could make a child more hungry if they are teething. I was reading from the link below and it says that 24-32 oz. is a gage no the end all be all. Talk to your doctor and ask him about it. If your child is holding his/her head up and doing less tong action than he or she may be ready to start solids or be more hungry than he or she used to be. Read the article in the link and talk to your doctor. Good luck!

No your child is just hungrier, maybe you should try adding a teaspoon of baby cereal to the formula, of course speak to a doctor first, but your baby is in a constant state of growth and some eat a lot some don't just like adults and young children. Some children go through spurts and eat more one time and less for other periods of times. Thirty two onces is what they suggest but some children will eat more. Don't fret just work with it.

Put a lil cereal in his milk. My neice was eating baby food at 4 months. But just be careful when feeding him. She would drink and drink all the time and she acted like she wasn't getting filled up. So they started putting a lil cereal in her milk. And she acted like she still wasn't getting enough to eat so they gave her some baby food and she loved it. But they give her a both milk & baby food now. She's 6 months old and growing like a weed. =-)

I wouldn't be concerned as long as he's gaining an adequate amount of weight at a good rate. Now if he's gaining a pound a week there's a problem. Plus if your pedi isn't bothered you shouldn't be either. He will check this at his 4 month check up and let you know what he thinks.

Talk to your DR. it might be that your baby isn't getting full. I know that the doctors say not to put baby cereal in with the formula but if your baby isn't getting full and is taking in that much formula it might be your only choice. It'll keep his satisfied for longer you only need to add a few TBS of rice cereal to the formula every other feeding. I was appalled when my grandmother told me to do that with my daughter, because my DR. told me not to. I did it thought because she raised 15 children plus help with all her grandchildren, and it worked. Good luck to you.

Depends on how much he weighs. Our son's doc(s) told us it's 3 oz for every pound. In other words 10lb=30oz.
