If the monitor doesn't have a degaussing feature you can do it manually. A 60hz magnetic field will fix what the magnet did. You can use a small AC motor like a blender or something has, or a power supply, and wave around the screen. The old TV techs use to fix CRTs that way.

You should have a Degauss option in the monitors OSD menu. Try hitting that a few times. However, you will need to wait about 20 minutes between cycles for the degauss circuit to reset properly. If that is not having an effect then take the monitor to a TV repair shop and they will be able to use a much more powerful degauss wand or ring on it. It will take about 30 seconds to fix. I would strongly advise against strapping magnets to a drill. That looks like a good way to get a magnet embedded in the wall, or even worse in you.

lol awe.... that sucks.

on your screen settings (actually on the monitor) you shold have a button that says menu, and then an option that looks like a magnet. go to that one,,, it should make your screen shake a little bit, then turn the monitor off for a few minutes. repeat if necessary, it should get better.

good luck!!

You may be able to unplug it and let it sit for a few minutes. If not, call Radio Shack, they used to sell an item to fix the color on TVs, the same item or possibly they have something else that works on monitors. I believe it was called a "degauser" or something like that. Good Luck.

The monitor should have a degauss feature, mine does. This feature will be ON THE MONITOR ITSELF not the computer, so go through the menu of your monitor to find it , if it doesn't have this feature, carry it by a tv repair shop and let them do it. it doesn,t take long. leaving it alone doesn't always/ever work.

Hope this helps, if not, pretend you never read this.

usually the monitor should fix itself every time it powers on by "degaussing" Your monitor apparently does not do that so you'll need to manually degauss it- and since every CRT monitor's setup menu is different, I can't tell you exactly how to do it. Try fiddling around the menus and look for a "degauss" command.

Good Luck!!

You know what you should do? you should beat the living daylights out of your brother and then make him buy you a new monitor. OK> that's my best advise.

Turn off your monitor for 5 minutes, and it should be back to normal.
