If you have software such as MS Word, Excel or Access available, you could list the designs, and then use a hyperlink to link to the file on your computer.

Then all you need to do is open the one document, find the name of the design you want, click on it, and it'll open the file you downloaded. If you don't want to click and open the design, just list the location on your computer where you saved it.

If you don't have software, create a folder in "My Documents" called "Embroidery Designs" and inside that, make folders according to categories - a folder for flowers, animals, kids designs etc.

Consider the cataloging method of items in a library, where many thousands (and multiple copies) of books, documents and other items are available.

You may need to catalog these designs such that they are searchable using different attributes or keywords.

When you download a design, what information is available to describe the file that was downloaded. I recommend that you start there, using the download description.

Here is a very simple way if these are image files....

Download Picasa at: http://picasa.google.com/index.html

Install the program, and then launch it. It will automatically catalogue and display all the image files on your computer, or you can direct it to just one or more folders.

Then, a thumbnail image of each image will be shown, and when you highlight any image, it will show the file location as well. It is very easy to scroll through the thumbnail images looking for what you want. The program updates your catalogue each time it launches.

Make a file on your computer by right clicking in your "My Pictures" folder. Click on New, then Folder. Name it Embroidery. Then make more folders with catergories. Then just put your designs in the folders! Hope I helped and good luck!
