Airports usually have parking garages attached to them. Plan to get there at least 1/2 hour before your friend is scheduled to arrive. That way you won't have to worry about finding your way.
Find the terminal in which your friend is to arrive. Many air ports have more than one terminal. Upon approach to the airport, you will see signs "Terminal 1", "Terminal 2" etc.
Usually, the airlines that use these terminals are listed on the signs. It is better if you know the terminal in advance, that way you can concentrate on traffic instead of having to read the details on the terminal signs.
When you get into the parking garage, there will be several floors. Before walking into the terminal, make a note (write it down) which floor you are on and which section. This will make it easier later to find your vehicle again.
You then walk toward the signs that say "Terminal" or "Elevator".
Inside the elevator, you will find floor descriptions like "Baggage claim" "Planes".
Choose the floor that says "Planes".
You will find an information stand as you walk away from the elevator and into the terminal. You can stop there and ask for assistance. They will tell you where to go to pick up your friend.
You can also look at the several monitors that display arrivals and departures. These will tell you the status of the flight your friend is on.
Make sure you have this information with you:
1. Name of Airline
2. Flight Number
3. City of Origin (if your friend changes planes, you need to know the LAST city where he boarded a plane, not necessarily from which city he originally came)
You'll breeze right through it :)

okay there is ALWAYS parking at an airport, so no worries there. short term parking is th closest to the terminal however also the most expensive, so make sure not to arrive too early to spend lsot time waiting for your friend to arrive 'casue that will cost you.
also make sure to agree on a meeting point to meet your party. If they are coming from an international destination; usually the best way is just after customs if they are on a local flight; check the flight number and wait at the luggagecarrousel or in the arrival hall near one of the rent a car offices (they are always there as well).
Good luck

Find the closest parking (Short Term Parking on the signs).
Then head to Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation area of airport. Know the flight number and look for a sign that tells you which luggage conveyor the luggage from that flight will be delivered. The conveyors are usually numbered or have a letter.

Which airport are you going to? It's usually easiest to wait in the car and have them meet you at the departure terminal b/c it is much less crowded than the arrival terminal. You can probably sit there in your car and wait unlike the arrival terminal where you will be towed if you stop at all. Good luck!
