He was a dictator, and he himself had killed so many innocent people during his regime (including his own sons and daughters).
Hence, will it bring some respite to Iraq, or will it escalate the situation?

No, Saddam's execution was not justified.
1. A civilized democratic world should/does not support capital punishment. If Iraq has to become a democracy, the government of Iraq should have been encouraged by the so called civilized, modern governments to refuse capital punishment and instead choose life imprisonment. What's a greater punishment? Death in 4 seconds or spending your life in a 6 ft by 8 ft concrete room with 30 minutes everyday of sunlight?
2. Is Iraq different now than it was on Friday when Saddam was still alive?
3. Saddam's execution will not quench the sectarian violence.
4. The execution seemed to be motivated by the oncoming US elections and the political aspirations/agendas of certain politicians.

It was justified. I think it will escalate the current situation temporarily, but it will help to improve Iraq's situation in the long run.

Sure, he got what was coming to him but would h be dead if it wasn't for America?

George Bush had a personal Vendetta to fill. He concocted this grand scheme to blame terrorism on the Iraqi's (when in truth it was all the other countries really.)

But like I said, he deserved it and here's to all the people who have risked their lives for the country and hoping they all get home safe.

Saddam Insane was tried and convicted in Iraq, not in the US.
He was sentenced to die for his crimes against humanity by the
interim Iraqi government. The US government did not try or sentence him.

Quid Pro Quo. In all frankness, if he deserves this American fate, then so do many, many, Americans (some very well known).

there was no justice in that trial, they didn't give him the right to talk, to define himself. the war in Iraq was just for bush benefit ( money, money, only for money...and oil)
