It depends on the citation method you're using and if you're talking about in-text citations or about the reference list at the end of the paper.

All I can tell you about is APA citations -- in this format, the 1st line of each citation should be flush with the margin and the other lines *for the same citation source* should be indented.

Normally your lecturers should have given out material in the first year stating what they expect
