Well this question you are asking, truth be told....is more serious than people thought!
It would seem, that because in real life! kids parents were doing the same, it was o.k. as a example...for Barbie and Ken to split too!
If they stayed together always, it would not have been normal? because today in real life over 67% of married people fail.
They too split, so in all their so-called-wisdom, they said....its
fine for it to happen two the two dolls!
Helps kids get over 'any' split with their own parents.?
It's a very sick old world..

I believe that a year (or two?) ago there was a very big deal about their breakup and Barbie started seeing a guy from Austrialia. Then, Barbie and Ken got back together. The story from Mattel was just seeing other people and then getting back to true love, but in the end, it was just a publicity stunt that generated amazing coverage for Barbie and Mattel.
