I am not a city girl in fact I grew up in the country. I dont mean for them to stop the control but do it in less barbaric manner. chase wolves in a plane until they are exhausted and then gun the whole pack down. Where is the sport? when does this lead to cruelty?

The population of any species is always limited one way or another. If mankind doesn't limit it, nature will. And nature is a lot more cruel. I think shooting them is a lot less cruel than letting them starve to death or cannibalize each other because of overpopulation.

You are a city girl I gather. If you had a flock of sheep and these wolves came and ripped more than they can eat to bits including little babies, I wonder if you would feel the same way. I have a cousin that would be happy to have you visit and help him recover a lamb that was torn in 4.
Some wolves are okay, but when they start to attack on farm animals the farmer should have the right to eliminate the threat.
