Try playing around with the gpedit.msc file. Click on Run. type in gpedit.msc. Hit ok. Play around with the settings.

Hey Dude,

There isn't a password on the control panel. You need to check with your IT people. There is a good chance that if you are on a network, you are getting computer policies from your network that is preventing you from doing what you want to do. Or, they are allowing you to do it, but when you logout or reboot, your settings are not being saved (Manditory profile).

Now, if you are not under the control of the IT department, there are things you can do.

First, you need to set-up differnet users. You need to give the users ONLY user privs, and not administrator privs.

If you Right Click on "My Computer" and select "manage" you will see, on the left side, "Users and groups". This is where you can set-up users and assign them to the "users" group. They are automatically assigned to "users" group.

Now, You can keep whatever account you are using; probably the administrator account. Rename it and put a password on it. Renaming it can be dangerous. You have to remember you did that!

Good luck.

Tom

Sadly, you can't.

You could set up user accounts (one for you, one for others) and grant the secondary account (the public one) only "limited user" rights while designating your account as an "administrator". However, this will most likely create all kinds of problems as most programs expect to run as an Administrator.
