Well ... there are puns...and THERE ARE PUNS

"What gets wet as it dries?"

and then there are political conundrums...like...

"To be peaceful...you must prepare for war" ... it appears to be a paradox...but it is the dilemma which the world has faced for centuries...

Sometimes its a question...

"How can you increase the financial services offered by your state without raising taxes?"

Or sometimes its an intentional insult..like

"How can a man who has never served in the military in any capacity order men and women to their deaths in Iraq?"

Depends on which usage you're referring to.

Riddle based on punnery:
Q: Snow White and the seven dwarfs sit down for a bite. How fast can you guess what she serves her guests next?
A: Seven seconds!

Intractable problem:
Congestive heart failure is a deadly disorder that causes the lungs to rapidly fill up with fluid, drowning the patient. In many cases, the fluid causes the passageways of the lungs to spasm and tighten. This prevents fluid from entering the lungs, but also prevents the lungs from filling with air properly.

Imagine that you're a paramedic who's been called to the home of a patient who suffers from both CHF and asthma. The patient's lungs are tightly contracted, and they are barely able to breath. Standard protocols direct you to treat the patient with albuterol, a drug that relaxes the lungs. If you do so, the patient's lungs may fill with fluid, blocking off the little bit of oxygen that the patient is getting now, which could kill them. If you don't use the albuterol, the patient could easily become unconscious and die from lack of oxygen within several minutes.
What do you do?

Conundrum: A person is ill with terminal cancer. Chemotherapy may lengthen life, but it will also cause extreme sickness and discomfort for weeks. It may also kill the person. Without the chemotherapy it is certain the person will die sooner, but will not suffer the side effects. There is less than a 25% chance that the chemotherapy will extend quality life. What does the person do?

Conundrum (1996) (TV)
A cop and her partner are trying to break a gambling racket in the Vietnamese community. But when her partner's wife is murdered in a gruesome manner, the case takes on a personal cast, and they are up against the cops on their own precinct, as well as the villains on the street...and even each other.

I agree that religious conversion is a paradigm shift, but you also say that religious thinkers come up with all sorts of ad hoc reasons to support their positions and I don't agree with that. The reasons for having faith are clear and you can measure tangible results for yourself if you do the things our Father in Heaven asks you to do.
