WRT54G will be more than fine.

You also must understand your connection will move as slow as dialup. You may want to call Comcast and demand the $20 a month for 6 month deal (but got to demand it)

Get the WRT54G. There is no great need for a faster router unless you have 2 computers and need to transfer files between them frequently. Typical DSL speeds max out at about 5 Mbps, 10 times less than the WRT54G. BTW I have a WRT54G and it works great for me.

the WRT300N is a good router but there is a problem. that router is built on the N Draft standards. this means that is it not a defined standard, it is still a draft. so if it doesnt become a permanent standard no new products will be released that are compatible with your router, it will become obsolete very soon.
I would recommend the WRT54GX instead of the regular 54G. or if you want a faster router make sure the N standard is not draft.
email if more help needed.
Netgear offers good router with N technology that will support B/G aswell.
DG834N
this is a great model.

Hello there,

I have the answer for you.

The WRT54G and GS are proven entities. They work great!

The N standard is ONLY A DRAFT. It is not settled yet. It works and does okay. Not many people have them, yet. I do.

What are you using your network for? The ONLY thing that you are going to see any sort of performance issue is in your own house. Your internet is throttled at BEST 4 MB. Even the 802.11b is faster than your internet connection.

The $49.99 is your best bet UNLESS you are backing up something through your wireless OR you are playing games and have more the a dozen wireless devices working on your network.

Don't waste your money.

Have you called Linksys? They have pretty good tech support. Also, the IP address of the Linksys may be conflicting with the IP address of your Verizon DSL modem. Connect back to the modem (without the router) and get your IP address. I think the Linksys is 192.168.1.1 If they're the same, then you'd need to change the IP address of the Linksys router.

How far do you need it to reach. The more you pay the farther it will reach. If you have a big house get the good one.
If you live in a dorm get the cheap one.
You can always upgrade later.
