No.
I'm not British but basically, to the rest of the world, America is a powerful yet stupid nation.
Why did you direct this question to the British anyway?

Individually, yes. Altho ', like Australians, they do tend to "tell it like it is"! However, I agree with the previous comment about national over-confidence - this was noticably lacking for a while after 9/11. The French (Parisians anyway) are the same. That national over-confidence can get mistaken for rudeness. I also wonder if capital-dwellers of any nation are the same - coming from the West Country, I can get the same feeling in London sometimes.

the US people r as individual as they come. polite?
all nations have their ability 2 b rude. they're all been thru it,
germans, french, the UK seems 2 b the favourite this year 4 being rude. but i've been on the recieving end of direct US bad-manners occasionally.
they're no worse or better than others.
dangerous?
no, don't agree with that either.
think only 1 american has the label dangerous right now.

They are just like every other country in the world. Some polite, some rude, some intelligent, some stupid. One major thing they have in common with the UK is that the lower the IQ of the individual, the higher the number of children they have!

America may be a nice place to visit, but it would be better without the Americans.
the same applies to France, and the french.

Wow. After reading all these comments. Thank god I'm American. Apparantly I'm rude, stupid, arrogant, and telling people to have a nice day is fake.
Oh well. Maybe you should just not visit.. and leave our gorgeous country to ourselves. :)
That's all we want really. lol.
