I would have to say the worst invention in the last 100 years was the atomic, or nuclear, bomb.
As for the most beneficial invention, I would have to go for the personal computer.

The best invention is the formal scientific method of study. It is also the worst because not only was it applied to medicine agriculture and engineering. It was applied to military weapons researdh and development!

The worse was the nuclear bomb. After Einstein helped develop it, he feared it was only a matter of time until man eliminated themselves.
The best is the laser. Lasers are used for anything from entertainment (CD's, DVD's, etc) to medicine and surgery.
My personal favorite is the microwave oven. Now I can burn my dinner more quickly!

The computer is the answer to both. It is the best because it has enabled a greater availability of knowledge and ease of learning. It is the worst because it has made people phenomenally lazy and dependent.
A paradox, I know, but I think it is true.

That question is totally up to each person. Someone disabled, for example, might say the oxygen tank, but to a little kid, that invention is totally useless!
