I don't agree with capital punishment, and think that Saddam should have been put in jail for the rest of his life.
There does seem to be a double standard where Bush can make descisions that cost people their lives, and not get the same punishment as Saddam.

It's interesting that Saddam was hanged by a court that had to go through a number of different judges until the US found one that would do exactly as he was told. Even in the face of massive violence in opposition to the obvious US intentions.

One nice point about it is that the US executed Saddam without having to go through The Hague, and so they (we) avoided setting a precedent that Bush would go to The Hague for trial. It was local sock-puppets all the way.

Was it actual justice that Saddam was hanged? No. Of course not. No group of people has the right to do what no single person has the right to do. Killing is wrong, and by wrong, I mean immoral. Even in Xtianity, their Ten Commandments (which they want to hang in every public building in America) say killing is wrong. But, no one ever said Xtians were moral.

Should we hang Bush? No. For the same reason. It's not a moral act. He should be tried in The Hague like all the other war criminals and sentenced to life imprisonment after a fair trial.

Unless and until the US rejoins the world community, other nations will fear and hate us, and with good reason. The US is the remaining super-power in the world. The US military budget is larger than the combined military budgets of all the other countires in the world. Look it up.

Unfortunately, we combine unparalleled military power with the moral vision of a three year old. Political discourse in America today is rife with toddler logic: It's OK for me to hate and kill you, but it not OK for you to hate and kill me.

We can change the US. We just have to organize and act. The government of the US is, in the final analysis, just us.

I think he deserved every bit of ridicule that he recieved. He has done far worse to many many other innocent people. I think what they did to him was almost too nice. But I definitely believe in an eye for an eye theory.

Their hatred towards a man who killed millions is not much different from your hatred of Bush who killed a lot less.
