If you are honestly interested in learning about this subject here is an excellent website. It explains the different types of hangings and the different ways a person expores by hanging. Here is an excerpt:
A hanging may cause one or more of the following medical conditions:
Close the carotid arteries
Close the jugular veins causing cerebral hypoxia
Induce carotid reflex, which reduces heartbeat when the pressure in the carotid arteries is high, causing cardiac arrest
Break the neck (cervical fracture) causing traumatic spinal cord injury
Close the airway causing cerebral ischemia
Decapitation
The cause of death in hanging depends on the conditions related to the event. When the body is released from a relatively high position, death is usually caused by severing the spinal cord between C1 and C2, which may be functional decapitation. High cervical fracture frequently occurs in judicial hangings, and in fact the C1-C2 fracture has been called the "Hangman's fracture" in medicine, even when it occurs in other circumstances. Usually, accidental C1-C2 fracture victims do not immediately become unconscious; instead death occurs after some minutes, from asphyxia.

Well, first of all we know that he got something his poor victims didn't get at all.........a swift painless death !!!
I heard that if when being hanged in the era of western days - like cowboys and indians - they weighed you first, then measured your height, measured your neck size and then made the rope with a certain amount of loops for the noose based on those figures - then they filled a bag with sand on one end of the other rope to asure a fast pull on the the rope you'r neck is attached to - so that upon the drop and throw of the panel and switch they use on the ( Gallows ) you get a swift and quick SNAP of the neck.
This was to supposedly insure a very quick death - no lingering, jerking or twitching left to be seen off the body(s).....but,if they had no one who knew what they were doing at the time you could have a pretty awefull hanging on you'r hands and a person as they used to say ; left dancing at the end of a rope.........
There was supposedly back then about one or two actually noted victims of a supposed botched hanging that the people doing the hanging thought were* dead*...they left them there for dead* but,in actuallity they somehow survived this ordeal of events only to hunt those down who tried to hang them.....and killed most of those who tried to accomplish this dirty deed.....one of these so called hanging victims actually joined the army in 1800 something during the civil war era.....I know its there in history I just can't remember the guys name it happend too but, I am sure if you got the time to read for it you'll find it.......I saw all of this on the History channel - they have alot of interesting things on there and I am sure Saddam's Evil doing's and fatal ending will soon hit the airwaves there too. HOPE THIS HELPS !

Well if a person is hung correctly the neck is broken at the end of the fall. This almost always kills you nearly instantly or quickly enough to not suffer much. But if Saddam suffer oh well..

contained in the lengthy drop, or counter weight drop, there is sufficient stress to snap the neck, bringing lack of life right now. In a short drop, it truly is strangulation. there change right into a case in Wyoming on the turn of the century the position poorly placed counter weights led to decapitation.

Someone showed him a picture of Condi Rice just before pulled the trap door and he died of fright, lmfao.
You die when you're neck is broken and you're air circulation is cut off to you're brain.
