What has worked well for me was to copy items from the text books. I found that once I've written something down, I remember it better than just from reading. You can also read out loud and visualize what the text means - how it would look if it is a description of, say, anatomy or biology, or some such tanglible study.
For math formulas, it helps to associate a formula with its geometric equivalent, another visual exercise.
You can also write a list of items you have problems remembering and recite them to yourself while riding the bus, waiting in line somewhere etc.
Test anxiety usually comes from being unsure about knowing the material. Study diligently, but allow yourself breaks in between for relaxing, doing some stretching, taking a quick walk outside. Movement brings more oxygen to the brain and helps you think faster and clearer.
Also, the brain is an organ that depends on sugar - good sugar. Eating something that contains fructose (fresh fruit, canned fruit, or fructose chewables available from a health food store) gives your brain a little added fuel.
Finally, divorce yourself from the test outcome. Be prepared to accept any outcome - from best to failing. I know you want to succeed, but worrying about it won't help you. The thought processes that go into this worry are not available for you to do well on the test. Just pretend you don't care at all how the test comes out and take it. You'll be surprised how much better and clearer you think and do.
Another thing: most tests are multiple choice. Most multiple choice questions have at least 2 that are ludicrous. Of the remaining two, if you don't know the answer, go with your gut.
Go through the test, picking out all the questions to which you easily know the answer and get them out of the way.
Then go over again and knock off the ones that take a little work but are still doable.
Finally, go over again and knock off your 'best guess' answers.
Too many people go through tests in sequence, agonize over questions to which they can't find an answer, and then miss the ones they could have answered if time hadn't run out.
Good luck!

1) Study a long way in advance. Do not procrastinate!
2) Go over every topic and write down the main ideas/formulas/theories/laws on a sheet, so just before the test you will have a pretty good abstract of all the important stuff to read at once in a short time, and to keep at hand as reference while you are practising.
3) Some people work studying in groups, some others don't. I used to do it better in a group: we meet, solve problems on their own and when finished compare results and methods, it was pretty good to find out what mistakes can be made and better ways to get a solution.
4) Try to study in an organized area: doesn't have to mean neat, just a place where you are comfortable and have everything you need at hand reach.
Study heavy stuff at the time that works better for you. Some people work better early in the morning, some others are owls.
5) Try not to study on the day of your exam, that could increase your anxiety, unless it is to re-read your abstract sheets.
) For things difficult to remember, try to associate them with something familiar. For example: V=D/t, could be: Vest equal Dirt over the Tie.. (sounds stupid but would work to remember the equation in a graphic form)
6) If a tip that somebody gave you doesn't seem to fit you, do not use it!
Good luck!

I write important things on note cards, in question form and then do like flash card testing, have someone ask the question and you give the answer, you can do multiple choice questions, short answer, essay, vocabulary etc. It really works. Also don't study with a tv or music blasting, unless your one of those people that just can't study without the tv on (and you aren't even watching), which I am like that don't know why. See if you can form study groups and record the group with a tape recorder, then you can listen to it later.

1) Keep your focus just on what you are reading. Study in a room without any distractions: noise, cellphones, tv, other people etc. This helps your mind from wandering. In college i found the library to be the best place.
2) Develop a schedule. Go everyday to the library, or wherever, during the same time to study. Just like with exerise or sports, you will develop a natural routine.

personally, I've noticed that it is nearly impossible for me to study alone... so for bigger tests I'll try to organize study groups of friends.... i also ask the ones i know won't be goofing around all the time... basically we'll pick someone to ask questions from the text book (that person will change every 5 minutes or so) and then we'll compete who will answer their question first or who will get the most points.... however, when i am alone i make sure I'm in a quiet study place with NO noise and then I'll create study tests for myself so i can see my weak points and study those above others.... good luck!!

Make flash cards to test yourself with a friend. It's fun and helpful if you study together. That's how I ace ALL my tests!

Attendance comes first. do not omit training or days in college except it somewhat is absoutely mandatory. there is information given in college which you would be able to not get later. shop notes and handouts prepared, and so as. once you're given a handout, positioned the date on the ideal so it keeps to be interior the nicely suited order on your binder. in case you will desire to examine and make notes on a financial disaster, do it ideal away, a similar night. do not enable examining assignments pile up; in actuality, do not positioned something off. in case you survive ideal of it, you do not would desire to rigidity approximately going below. in case you do not comprehend something or are suffering, get help ideal away. do not provide up till that instructor has helped you artwork it out. the only stupid question is the single that's not asked. I hate to assert it, yet instructors are human, and while they grade artwork their thoughts regarding the student do come into play to a small degree. do not grub for grades, make a pest of your self, act up in college or do something which will decrease your instructor's opinion of you. evaluation periodically by the term - you would be extra helpful arranged for assessments. start up examining early for assessments, and don't learn the night in the previous a try or the day of it. in case you do not comprehend it via then, you have not achieved it ideal. do not cram. learn in a community that has each and every thing you want. there isn't any would desire to do away with television, song, and so on. except it interferes including your concentration. some pupils learn extra helpful with a sprint bit interest around them, others want absolute quiet. make certain what works for you. Time administration is serious. Set a term to do homework and learn it somewhat is consistent, and don't bypass previous it. Say from 7 - 9 p.m. that's after dinner, and facilitates you to observe a sprint television, examine, get waiting for mattress, and nevertheless get to sleep early. it somewhat is needed have a sequence schedule and persist with it, or your examine will run away with you and you gets burned out. enable issues bypass. in case you're hung up on a 13/20, you're actually not focusing on getting an more suitable mark on the subsequent difficulty. do not belabor your artwork - if the essay is achieved, and it seems sturdy, enable it bypass, do not shop choosing at it. Perfectionism and obsessiveness will do you in in case you're actually not careful. it somewhat is approximately all i will think of of, desire it facilitates, and characteristic a sturdy 3 hundred and sixty 5 days!

Drink heavily before, during and after the test. I find that alcohol, especially high proof, tends to take the edge of the test.

I think flash cards are great for memorization. Aside from that it depends on the subject you are studying. Reviewing notes helps. If you have a study guide make sure you understand all of the information on it.
