School is still open- the only exception may be in Grand Rapids Michigan, my home town, where he will be buried. I lived near his childhood home.

It is Tuesday and its a national day of mourning for President Ford. All Federal offices will be closed however, check with your local school for closings as I am sure many are still closed for the Christmas Holiday.Happy New Year.

I believe it's Tuesday that he declared the holiday. And so far from what I've heard, schools aren't closed. Maybe next year they will be but I'm 98% positive that schools aren't closed this tuesday.

The schools are closed not because of Gerald Ford's death, but rather because of Christmas break...

the White domicile issued a proclamation immediately affirming a million/2/2007 as a nationwide Day of Mourning, yet does not point out if the day will additionally be a federal trip. Proclamation link listed.
