do you mean unanswered points? If so this just means that one teams has scored (say 14 points) while the other team in the same amount of time has scored 0. The points scored were unanswered with return scoring.

It means when one teams scores, the other doesn't meaning that if one team scores a touchdown and then holds on defense, so far the team who scored has 7 unanswered points.

"Unanswered"

It means that one teams scores twice or more in a row without being scored on, or the point being "answered."

For example, if team A scores a touchdown, stops team B from scoring, and then scores another touchdown, that would be 14 unanswered points (2 touchdowns and 2 PATs), and the "unanswered" streak would continue until Team B scores.
