Albums did come out on Mondays in the '50s, and up into the '80s, even. But as release dates and first-day sales became more important, many record stores - chains, even, not only Mom and Pops - would get annoyed over mail-delivery disparities. Some stores would get the new CDs at 8 a.m., others at 10 a.m., etc. . . . It wasn't an even playing field. So labels decided to uniformly stick to Tuesdays. . . . That way, there's a full day for stores to prepare, and it also enables them to sell CDs at midnight Monday, which couldn't happen in the past. As for the U.K. (still selling CDs on Monday), we're thinking it's just their decision not to conform to the change the U.S. made. They tend to do that.

This is the truth...

CD's and DVD's (once VHS') have always been released on Tuesday for this reason...honest...

The entertainment business is a "one hand washes the other" type....and they want to maximize their profits ...

Friday is when movies are released into theaters, generally speaking, except for Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, and sometimes July 4th week-end...

Tuesday is when CD's and DVD's are released for this reason, swear to God...

Tuesday is the furthest day away from Friday, and Hollywood doesn't want anything that is released in the theater on Friday to have ANY COMPETITION for that opening week-end...

That's why its Tuesday...

Soon enough...maybe 10 years from now...movies will be released on Friday in the theater, and then on DVD the following Tuesday...
