If they have made up their mind about you, is it a battle you cannot win?

I think perhaps you could win the battle, but it takes a lifetime of understanding someone to know everything about them. Sometimes I have a hard time convincing myself of anything at all, and I know that there are things I'm in denial about, but I cling to my faith in God that He will get me through them, slowly but surely, one thing at a time.

I have a hard time getting people to listen to me in the first place, to be quite honest. And when I take the things I'm in denial about versus the things I know full well, I can see how my own thoughts can be very confusing to others. This is, I suppose, all part of the reason why I don't talk much.

I don't think anyone can fully make up their minds about another person because in a solid relationship, two people are always learning and growing, together and apart.....if that makes any sense at all. I'll think I know something about someone I care deeply about, and then I'll turn around and learn something completely contradictory the next day. Maybe that makes me a person who isn't a good listener or good at communicating, but when it comes to the people I love, I do try my best, and that is all I can do. I leave the rest up to God to figure out, because He is the only one who can know us, deep in our hearts. That's why His love is the greatest thing you'll ever learn.

It would probably be next to impossible to convince someone you are not in denial. They would just assume that you are in denial over being in denial.

I believe that is correct, yes. Or at the very least, it is a tiring battle that will only wear you down, so just accept what people think of you and know that the people who think good things about you are usually right.....I know this from personal experience of course.

It sure sounds like you can't win with the person or people you are dealing with. I hope if it's more than one person you will honestly face your problem. But if it's only one person and no others ever tell you this even when you ask, I would get them out of my life before they ruined my self-esteem more than they already have. Good Luck!!

When I'm accused of being in denial I tell the accuser he/she is delusional. That takes care of that.

Happy New Year.

Well, then, aren't THEY the ones in denial?

It's impossible, the more you say you aren't the more you seem like you are.
Let it go.
