I'm glad that new years happens first over there. If the new year doesn't start because a comet hits the earth, or the sun blows up, they will know it first, and will suffer most of the damage. We will have more time to prepare and maybe suffer less.

Not as badly as the people in Kiribati, who moved their country to a ridiculously distant eastern timezone so they would be the first to see in the new millenium

do you think the guys who won all the medals at the Olympics are cheating? if you want to see the new year early just go to Kiribati. people do it all the time.........some even chase eclipses around the globe. its a free globe just go!
