from my personal experience, no. but that is because i have been hurt way too many times by one person. maybe people can change their ways, but i have never seen it. i think once you hit a certain age, you are the way you are. and changing your ways isnt an option anymore.
trust is a big deal. once its broken, its harder than hell to regain, and even if you do, there is always that little voice in your head telling you that this person doesnt keep promises.

when someone makes a promise, and than ignores it or doesn't come through, u may resent and not trust anything they say after that. unkempt promises have a way of resurfacing whenever there is an argument, without being able to trust that person there really is no relationship.

At first, going back to trusting them can be very difficult, but, depending on the violation, it is possible with time.

It takes awhile to build that trust back, but I would hope that we are forgiving people and realize that everybody makes mistakes. If this person has no remorse about his failure to keep his promise
then you may be dealing with 2 issues. Good Luck

Not for a while. I guess you would have to put them under the test first, like with some little confidences, and see how they handle it. If all goes well , then I would trust them again. Remember.....First time their fault, Second time your fault.

do criminals stop committing crimes?
and it's like the old saying goes
fool you once, shame on her
fool you twice, shame on you!
no trust, no second chance, done

No you really can't. Some deserve a second chance......but it depends on the promise that was made.

Someone posted this earlier.. about trust. It's like virginity. Once you lose it, you never get it back.
