There is no greater absurdity in life than the desire of some people to want to celebrate New Years Eve. Why would anyone want to celebrate the fact that another year of their life has now passed and that they are a year nearer to that final drive to the crematorium?
As usual there is mass hype and if you watch the news you are led to believe that everybody is out celebrating.
Not true! I and many other people just completely ignore it.
Last year at this time I was on holiday in Sharm el Sheik getting a bloody good sun tan. The hotel laid on a free New Years Eve Party for all guests. All the food and drink was completely free to all guests. I went there ate and drank as much as I could then left at 10 o'clock to go back to my room and watch movies on satellite TV. I was completely uninterested in staying up till midnight as as far as I could see it was a non-starter.
Some people's only bit of excitement in life is the excuse to go out and get drunk! They ought to try getting themselves a life!!

Take a disco nap, dude- that's a great way to transition from one night of partying to the next. Go have a nap for like 2 hours and you'll feel awesome by tonight!

Celebrate some other timezone's New Year instead! Then you can get some kip and not miss out on this artificial excuse to celebrate!

Depending on what time it is at your end, take a nap now... that is if you even care to stay up in the first place
