Is this just another US Republican strategy to continue with their other subversive lies to fool the ignorant and apethetic US public?

If you're talking about the death penalty in general, there is actually a strong movement underway to abolish the death penalty in America. There are many arguments against the death penalty:

Executions cost more than life in prison.
The innocent may be wrongly executed.
Life in prison without parole guarantees no future crimes.
Killing is wrong.
It violates international human rights laws.
Many Death Row inmates were convicted while being defended by court-appointed lawyers who are often the worst-paid and most-inexperienced and least-skillful lawyers.
It's no longer practiced in most sophisticated societies.
It promotes killing as an OK solution to a difficult problem.
Death sentences are handed down arbitrarily, not in a fair manner.

I don't understand how your comment about "U.S. Republican strategy" or "subversive lies" relates to the death penalty in America today. And I don't believe the public is apathetic in regard to the death penality.

If you're talking about Saddam Hussein, he was tried, convicted and condemned by an Iraqi court, and executed by the Iraqis. And the Iraqi extremists have quite often utilized the "death penalty," even without giving the victim the benefit of a trial.

By your profile, you seem to be an intelligent person, and very self-aware. Perhaps in the future you can phrase your questions in a manner that can make them sound more comprehensible and less like a wild-eyed attack rant. Espcially since you "enjoy debate and discussing all sides of an issue."

The original purpose of the deah penalty was to protect society from dangerous people. That is what it is still used for, in addition to being a consequence for evil actions.

It is a bit paranoid to act as though the republicans are out to fool you, and the democrats are just perfect. The democrats voted for this war just like the republicans did. They did find WMD, but not as soon as they expected or as large of quantities as expected. If the republicans were out to fool you, they could have easily planted WMD to keep the press happy.

As far as keeping society safe from criminals, we have prisons that do a good job of that, however, some criminals are still able to communicate their agenda through prison walls, and they also harm other inmates. Sometimes it is still necessary to use capital punishment, even though, seen through the eyes of the media, and the limited knowledge we have about each situation, it may sometimes seem unjustified.

If someone killed a family member of mine, I would rather know that they are in prison for the rest of their lives (no possibility of parole) than kill them.
