I use the MCI service. You don't have to sign up to anything you simply just add the prefix 1010 987 before the number you are calling. I have used it for years and often call Canada and the U.K. from the U.S.A.. It is ridiculously cheap at around 4cents a minute. It drasticly reduced my phone bill when I started using it and also allowed me to call more often.

maybe what janine said is okey but i guess long distance call for phillipines have different rate from calls to canada and UK.. calls to canada is much cheaper..

dont you wanna try using Philippine call cards? where are you calling from?

im from california.. we buy phone cards at the pinoy stores, like seafood city or tambuli.. we use "hello philippines" call card.. they sell $5 card for only $3.50 which can last for 34 straight minutes.. thats roughly 10c/min.. i suggest you consume one card for the entire call..

or another option, let the people in the Philippines call you by using budget card which costs Php 100 (about $2) for 30+mins.. much cheaper.. you can just send them money..

if you have a computer, you can use SKYPE....
A call to a cell phone in Phill average about .24 cents a minute
to a landline phone is about .19cents

No calls to the Phill are cheap, actuall they are the most expensive

and usually any $5 card never lasted me more then 20 minutes.

So the best after free E-mails is to send SMS phone message...
