This isnt even a question, if Albert played in Philly he would have hit more home runs then Howard, just look at how small that field is, Pujols would make it look like a little league field. Not to mention this stat Pujols hit 49 home runs and struck outs 50 times. Thats pretty amazing, look at Howards home run to strike out ratio, he had over 181 k's. Home Runs are nice to look at but they don't make you a great hitter. Look at Big Mac he had over 500 home runs but his career average was in the .260 range. Yeah Howard hit .313 but you can't overlook the 181 k's compared to the 50 by Pujols. The fact that Howard is older then Pujols and Pujols has been a starter for 6 years compared to Howards 1 and a half years shows that Pujols developed way quicker then Howard.

Albert Pujols is definitely a better hitter than Ryan Howard. When I think of good hitters I consider all hits , not just home runs. When you compare Howards k's and walks with Pujols it's not even close. Howard plays 81 games a year in a hitters park , Pujols does not. And to top it all off Pujols was the best defensive 1st baseman in baseball last year. "MVP" He was robbed!

Albert "El Hombre" "Fat Albert" "The Machine" Pujols.
Don't get me wrong, I love Ryan Howard and the fact that he's a native St. Louisan, but Pujols has had atleast 30 homeruns the first 6 seasons of his career. Ryan Howard may get that, but he hasn't proven himself yet. Ryan and Albert are both about the same age. Ryan is actually a few months older.

Howard plays for the Phillies in the NL east. Puljols for the Cards in the NL central. So lets start there, despite the Mets, and Braves I still think the cards were dealing with a tougher division. Puljols, has been consistent for years and wowing fans everywhere, you don't have to be a fan of his team to admire him.
Howard, had a good year, might have some more might not (think McGuire? no insult to his fans). Pujols has earned and deserves the respect of baseball fans everywhere. Howard, it remains to be seen, just my opinion. Most others that chose Puljols really stated very valid arguments, so nothing else to say.

Pujols by far. Ask in about 5 years the answer may be different. Howard did it for 1 year, Pujols has been consistent for a lot more than that.

Howard is a better hitter for power now. He may catch up with Pujols for average soon. It will be an interesting match-up for years - or until the Yankees sign one or both of them.

Pujols, been around longer, give Howard another year or 2. Could have had his career year early, Pujols has done it I believe 6 ina row now.
