Wealth isn't "held" by one country or another. It is CREATED there by the labor and ingenuity of the people.
If the United States is wealthy, it is because they have created products and services that the whole world needs. Its not like someone just woke up one morning and inherited some giant trust fund that other countries get left out of.
btw, It has been done while maintaining a respect for the environment not found in poorer countries like China. The US has enironmental problems, but nothing like some of the toxic sites found in Russia, China and elsewhere.
