I recently bought a tach for my truck. (78 Chevy Truck), the backlight on the tach, I want it wired in to where when the truck lights are on the tach light is on, so can I run the hot wire for the light to snap behind on the the instrument cluster lights?

All you have to do is find a convenient dash light that has power supplied by your headlight switch. I would suggest somewhere close to the mounting point for the tach. as having wires hanging out all over the place not only looks unprofessional, they can be a hazard when operating the truck. Or go right back to the headlight switch and splice and solder a wire to the output to the dash lights. I think the wire color is grey for Chev. trucks to dash lights. Best bet is to remove the dash face plate and access the wiring through this area. Good luck.

Hook the tac light lead into your light switch,so when you turn your lights on it will come on,or hook it to the reostate that controls the brightness of your dash lights.
